Refunds and Cancellation
We want you to be happy with every eBook. If one isn't right for you, this is how we put it right.
Try it first — for free
Every eBook has a free sample — the first 8% — which you can read or listen to before you buy. It is the best way to be sure an eBook is for you, and reading all of it never counts against the refund below.
Changed your mind? 7 days, if you've read less than 8%
Ask within 7 days of buying and, as long as you have read less than 8% of the eBook, we will refund you in full — no reasons needed. Bought the wrong eBook, bought it twice, or it simply is not for you: that is exactly what this is for. Our reader keeps your place, so we can see how far you have got; there is nothing you need to prove.
Not as described, or it won't work — up to 365 days
If an eBook is not what its page described — the wrong eBook, missing or garbled text, a comic with missing pages — or our reader will not work for you and we cannot fix it, tell us within a year and we will put it right or refund you. eBooks are read in your web browser, so any phone, tablet or computer with an up-to-date browser can open them.
After a long time, your bank may no longer accept a refund to the original payment; if that happens we will agree the fairest alternative with you.
Not enjoying an eBook you have read well beyond the sample is not a reason for a refund, but please do tell us why — authors want to know.
Your 14-day right to cancel
For digital content you normally have 14 days to change your mind. That right ends once you start reading — but only if you asked us to give you access straight away and acknowledged what that meant. That is why the box at checkout exists: we record your consent and the time you gave it. If you did not give it, your 14-day right stands and we will refund you on request.
Nothing in this policy affects your legal rights as a consumer, including your rights if digital content is faulty or not as described.
What happens after a refund
Refunds go back to the way you paid (the bank account you paid from), normally within eight working days. The eBook leaves your library once it is refunded. For eBooks published by independent authors, a refunded sale is taken off the author's royalties.
Fair use
This policy relies on good faith. Authors are paid from every sale, so if an account keeps buying and refunding eBooks, we may stop it from buying more.
How to ask
Use the refund request form (or the “Request a refund” link on your order page) and include your order reference. Leave an email address so we can confirm.
